Dr. Pickett received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1993, where he graduated summa cum laude. He then attended the University of Alabama School of Dentistry, where he graduated with honors in 1997. Dr. Pickett received his Master of Science degree and his Certificate in Orthodontics from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry in 2000.
While in dental school, Dr. Pickett served as president of the student body, president of the Psi Omega fraternity, and president of the Dental Research Group. Dr. Pickett received the Kramer Award of Excellence which is given to one student each year for outstanding achievement. He was also the recipient of the Schneyer Award for the highest scholastic achievement in the basic sciences. He was inducted into OKU (the dental scholastic honor society), received the Award of Excellence in Research, and was the recipient of the American Association of Orthodontists Award. Dr. Pickett received the Alabama Dental Association Student Leadership Award, and he was also awarded the coveted Dean’s Medal for outstanding scholarship and leadership.
Dr. Pickett is a published author in the Journal of Dental Research and The Angle Orthodontist. He maintains professional memberships with the American Association of Orthodontists, Southern Association of Orthodontists, the Alabama Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association and the Alabama Dental Association. He served as the president of the Alabama Orthodontic Alumni Foundation from 2009-2010.
Away from the office, Dr. Pickett enjoys boating, fishing, and spending time with his wife, Rebecca, and their three children, Alexa, Clark and Noah.
